CAPTAIN

GORDON

Gord grew up in Victoria and has been exploring the coastline of Vancouver Island since the early 1980s. He first explored the coast through sailing and was a sea cadet sailing instructor for many years. He then moved into the world of commercial diving and worked in the local waters of the West Coast, where he had countless first hand encounters with just about every kind of marine life Vancouver Island has to offer. Gordon moved to Vancouver and worked at many Electronic Dance Music (E.D.M) events as a nationally-known VJ and favourite local DJ. When Gordon and his family returned to Victoria, he was drawn back to the ocean and marine exploration, one of his greatest passions. He is now one of BC Whale Tours' Captains, where he constantly shares his passion and experience with everyone he encounters.

CAPTAIN

MARK

Mark joined the BCWT crew in 2019. He is an avid conservationist and enjoys sharing his passion for the ocean with our guests. Mark is an accomplished traveller and has had adventures all around the globe! He began diving and climbing in Africa, which sparked a seven-year adventure of travelling around the world without flying! His travels have taken him across Russia, Mongolia, China, the Middle East, South America; and many more. Eventually, he wound up in the Caribbean working as a captain on luxury catamarans before making his way to the West Coast where he has been a captain in the Victoria whale watching industry for 5 years. In his free time, Mark volunteers as a medic on a ski patrol, teaches sailing, is a rescue diver, kite-surfer, organic gardener, and organizes large-scale beach clean ups to do his part against the growing problem of marine plastics.
