Sightings Report for July 20, 2017!

After a night of thundershowers the clouds stayed lurking around the Victoria area, but regardless of the overcast day the action continued in the Salish Sea!

Captain Russ, Tom, Gordon, and Jim had wonderful interactions with sleepy humpback whales spread throughout the Juan De Fuca Strait all day. A mother and inquisitive calf were encountered relaxing around Race Rocks, as the youngster came closer to investigate the protective mother calmly steered her calf in another direction.

Biggs orca (mammal eaters) came into range in the afternoon and were spotted near East Point heading South! They moved quickly as they travelled through the channels and bays looking for prey and socializing.

Stay tuned for what we encounter today!
