Sighting Report for June 1, 2017

June 1st! It was again grey in the morning but with little wind. We were all optimistic that whale encounters would be nothing short of amazing once we got out there and started searching!

A few of our morning expeditions encountered J pod from our Southern Residential population around the Gulf and San Juan Islands.  Where as another morning expedition ended up interacting with a pod of Bigg's Orca (T73s) on the west of Victoria towards Sooke, BC.  The pod of Bigg's orca ended up hunting quite close to the vessel with what appeared to be a harbour seal.  It was quite a raw and unfiltered scene as to how these animals hunt and feed along our west coast.

The afternoon and evening cruises got the lucky encounters of J Pod and also a humpback!! Along with the incredible cetacean specie interactions our guests got to see sea lions, seals, sea otter, seals and bald eagles.

Not a bad first day in June! Lets see what today brings on the water
